International Conference on Lightweight Materials and Manufacture 2018 held in Beijing

From April 19 to 21, International Conference on Lightweight Materials and Manufacture 2018 was held in Beijing. This conference was jointly hosted by AVIC Manufacturing Technology Institute, P. R. China and Imperial College London, UK, and organized by National Center for International Research on Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing Technologies and National Key Laboratory of Science and Technology on Power Beam Processes.
More than 100 scholars and experts from Britain, Germany, Italy, Hungary, South Korea, Japan, Romania, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, China and other countries and regions gathered together to focus on the theme of "Lightweight". The domestics and international experts brought more than 30 academic reports at this international conference. And they also discussed and exchanged ideas on hot topics such as the forefront and the application research of lightweight materials and manufacturing technology.
Prof. Jianguo Lin, coming from Imperial College London and the academician of Royal Academy of Engineering, Prof. Jian Lu, coming from City University of Hong Kong and the academician of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, and Miklos Tisza, the academician from the University of Miskolc in Hungary were also specially invited to the conference to make keynote reports and share the latest research progress.

Academician Jianguo Lin was introducing the International Journal of Lightweight Materials and Manufacture.

Academician Jian Lu was reporting the advanced metallic nanomaterials for light weight and morphing structures in aerospace.

Academician Miklos Tisza was reporting a comparative study of the application of steels and aluminium alloys in light weight manufacturing of automotive parts.
During the same period of the conference, AVIC Manufacturing Technology Institute organized the first editorial board meeting of the International Journal of Lightweight Materials and Manufacture. The editorial board meeting was chaired by Academician Jianguo Lin and formulated the recent work plan and development goals of the journal. Each member of the editorial board would also play their influence actively in the professional field to promote the early development of this journal into an academic journal with international influence. The first issue of International Journal of Lightweight Materials and Manufacture was first released at this conference and received a wide range of attention from conference representatives.

Prof. John Dear coming from Imperial College London was presenting International Journal of Lightweight Materials and Manufacture.
